Our thoughts affect our health MUCH more than you think. It’s why most of my time spent on this blog is rarely giving you advice on what exercise to do or what you should eat, but rather how you can re-train your mind, heal your heart, and find rest in your soul!
Here is where most of us go wrong–we believe lies that are easily fed to us in the world so unless we are intentional about guarding them and getting them out, the lies stay and the truth flees. I love this quote and I posted it on Facebook a couple of weeks ago.
When we look at it this way, doesn’t it go about HOW we attack our struggles? There are some great scripture verses regarding the mind so if this is an area of struggle for you, I’d consider you to memorize these!
Romans 8:1-8
Romans 12:1-2
Philippians 4:8
2 Corinthians 10:1-5
Colossians 3:1-3
As a Christian, we have a filter or checklist, if you will, on why thoughts should be in our mind. Isn’t it just like our God to equip us to help us out in our struggles?!
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” Philippians 4:8
And what if we don’t think on such things? What should we do then? We take them captive to Christ!
“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5
My son is in a basketball program at a local church and it involves a bible lesson station. One day he came home with this object lesson and I loved it! This would be such a great way to show your children (and re-iterate in your own mind!) what exactly Jesus does for us when we allow Him to intervene in our thought life! Check out the video below!
