My current running shoes

September 18, 2011

Here’s a snapshot of my current running shoes. They are about 1 year old and I’m ready to turn them in for another pair! (My knee has been hurting in the past 2 runs which is usually a dead giveaway for me)

I’ve done ALL brands of shoes!!! It depends on what I’m using them for as to which brand I like. My current running ones are Mizuno, however I’ve used Asics, Adidas, Nike and New Balance before.

What is your favorite brand of running/exercise shoe?

How do you know when it’s time to get a new pair?

Okay I love New Balance but mine are about a couple years old and it is time for some new ones. I am eyeing the Nike Free run 2.

Who makes those Clare? I have only been running a little over a year so have only replaced once about 8 months in (remember I weighed alot when I started so I may replace more often than others!) – I run on the front half of the shoes, so when it was time for new ones I got blisters on my toes and ball. And the shoes were pretty much treadless at the front (but looked brand new on the heel – lol!).

Love that you have little rocks stuck in yours too. hehe. 🙂

Little rocks, feathers, bird poo–you name it. Those shoes have had it! LOL

8 months sounds about right but honestly it differs with each person! You’ll start to know when it’s time for you the longer you go!

ok so now I see you said Mizuno. I’m blind today! I always go to a running store to be “re-fitted” to be sure I’m in the right shoe for me. My knees did hurt come to think of it when it was time for new ones – one of my hips too. Blisters hurt the worst though.

My shoes were wearing out but nothing was hurting. Then I got new shoes and my knee started hurting. Any ideas why new shoes would cause my knee to hurt?

It could be that your feet are adjusting to the new shoe, or that you got the wrong kind of shoe for your foot. IT’s such a frustrating thing until you find what shoe brand actually works for you.
You may want to return them, but you may not be able to…yikes!!
You want to be careful though. The last thing you need is to injure yourself with new shoes!!!

Thanks for the ideas. I may try a store that specializes in running shoes. I’ve just recently started “running without being chased” and seem to enjoy it. I’d like to continue so I think I might try a professional’s help. Appreciate your comment.
