Sooooo….you know I love my protein. I am looking for ways to get it in my diet, all the time. I also love waffles. So why not mix the two?! I made this a few days ago and posted it on facebook and instagram and all y’all wanted the recipe, so here goes! The beauty is–your whole family will probably love it too! Mine did!
Vanilla Almond Protein Waffles
♦ 2 large eggs
♦ 1 large ripe banana
♦ 1/3 cup sliced blanched almonds (you can use whole blanched)
♦ 1/4 cup vanilla protein powder
♦ 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
Optional: 1/4 cup chocolate chips
Pre-heat your waffle maker. Put all ingredients in a blender (except chocolate chips if you are using them) and blend. (Stir in chocolate chips now if you want them) Once the waffle maker is ready, grease it up! (I use coconut oil) Pour batter into maker and start!
Makes 4 small waffles (1 large one) i.e. one pour
Have fun with the toppings! (But make sure you don’t go too over the top!) Top with maple syrup, fresh berries, pecans, almonds, bananas, peanut butter, almond butter, chocolate PB2, chocolate chips…the list goes on and on!
Here’s how I made it the first time around with a little drizzle of chocolate PB2
Enjoy!!!
Looks good, but I’m always so nervous to add protein powder to stuff. Especially if my 2 year old is going to eat it. Could someone educate me more on proteins powder? It always seems so man made to me and not natural.
Amanda….I use one that is strictly food based (not synthetic additives). Tastes great and is recommended by many physicians for children as well as adults. Stick to ones that are food based (with a nutrition label not a supplement label) and you should be safe.
Try Juice plus powder! It is a whole foods supplement that is non GMO and gluten free! You can also make shakes and smoothies with it! My girls love it! I would be happy to answer any questions about it! 🙂
Is Juice plus available in stores or online only?
never mind I looked it up.
You can use plant fusion protein powder its all natural and safe for your 2 yr old my 23 mo loves it
Could this recipe be used as a pancake recipe? I don’t own a waffle maker
What protein powder do you use? Thanks!
I use complete powder- purest protein on the planet and used in cancer recovery! Safe for all ages – my 10 year takes it for Lin h every day at school!
I followed the recipe exactly and unfortunately these were not at all to our liking. Bummer bc I loved how healthy the ingredients were!
Do you have a substitute for almonds, I have a child allergic to all nuts?
Yum! I made these with Juice Plus Vanilla powder, and followed the recipe exactly. Of course they were not exactly like my regular pancakes (joy of cooking), but they were a huge hit! My kids (11 & 14) and I both prefer these. They are tastier too, so less syrup is needed. Thanks so much!
Well, I didn’t love these – the texture wasn’t really like waffles – more like a cross between a pancake and an egg custard. But, my kids proclaimed them “the best waffles I’ve ever had!!”. So, how can I argue with that?
