Wondering where I came up with Peak 313? Glad you asked.

I did a brief survey of my aerobics students, asking them some of the phrases I used in classes. You know…to help  me define what I really say. Since “Get your booty down” wouldn’t be an appropriate blog name, I had to go a different route.

In my workouts, I’m always telling my students to get themselves up that hill. We do a lot of interval training where we have times of recovery, then times where we are really pushing ourselves. My encouragement to them was to keep going and keep fighting to get to the top--to the peak, if you will.

So I had half the name. Then one day it hit me. I wanted to incorporate the spiritual side of why I do what I do so I came up with the scripture reference that summed up exactly what I want to encourage my readers with!

Phillipians 3:13 says: “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead…”

There are too many times in life that we push towards what’s ahead with a big weight keeping us behind. We can’t move forward no matter how hard we try. Life happens. Life has happened. Life will keep happening.

No matter your history. No matter your hang-ups. We are pressing forward. Together.
