June 22, 2012

It is a rare woman that I find who loves their post-baby body! We want changes and we want them fast! There are so many factors that play into how much weight comes off and when it does and this can cause much stress and dissatisfaction.

I get asked a lot, what kind of things women can do to get back to pre-baby body. Find out what I suggest at The Better Mom!

Thanks for the great, practical tips! Love your blog. Besides general exercise, do you any recommendations for improving the abdominal area after baby? I had my second son a year and a half ago, and sadly, my stomach never rebounded. It’s pretty embarrassing and I’d like to improve it but have no idea where to start.

The abs are probably the hardest spot to get toned up, especially after baby. It takes a lot of discipline in regards to eating and intense exercise to get it to what you want. My abs are not the same as they were pre-baby, but they are about as good as they are gonna get considering I’ve had two kids!

However, you want to make sure you are doing overall strength training and intense cardio (sprints/hill runs will really help) . And abs really are made in the kitchen. Keep carbs and sugars and high glycemic fruits to a minimum. Focus on proteins and veggies and lots of water!!

      Good luck!

I’ve had two babies, both over 9 1/2 pounds. My youngest is 8 months, now, and I’d really love to tighten my tummy up. I don’t have a lot of excess fat to lose (I’m 5 foot 9 and 135 pounds), but the muscles and skin are really loose still. Which of your exercises do you think would be best for really toning the tummy? I’m thinking that I’d like the slide and glide combo… Any thoughts for me?

Hi Justyn! Sorry for the delay in response!!

Honestly, the best thing you can do to tighten your tummy is to eat a lean, clean, and green diet!! That has the BIGGEST affect on that area. Sure, you can make tighter muscles there by doing some great abs moves, but they won’t show if you have fat over them.

You also need to keep your cardio up….Try short intense spurts while running or walking. MAke sure you are doing strength training too. I know this is a lot, so let me know if you need further detail!!
