Recipe: Pineapple-Mango Smoothie

August 24, 2011

McDonalds has a Pineapple-Mango smoothie. This may be one of the healthier options at McD, but it’s definitely not the role model smoothie.

Check out the ingredients and food label. (Keep in mind serving size)

Let’s make our own from scratch. The beauty of smoothies is that you really can’t mess them up. Play around with the measurements of ingredients below!

♥♥♥

Pineapple-Mango Smoothie
Ingredients:

♦ 1 mango, diced and peeled

♦ 1 cup of fresh pineapple, cut and peeled

♦ 1 cup of vanilla or plain greek yogurt (you can use non-greek if you’d prefer)

♦ Splash of vanilla extract

♦ 1 cup of ice

♦ Honey, to your taste

♦ Splash of milk

Directions:

Add all ingredients together and blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into a chilled glass and garnish as you’d like. Enjoy!

We also live in the tropics, and I literally have mangoes falling on my roof! We make smoothies a lot and this will be a fun new one to try. Thanks!

I live in the tropics, too, and smoothies are wonderful! We do a strawberry, mango, pineapple, and papaya smoothie. Just take frozen strawberries (I don’t measure – just pour strawberries about half way up in my blender), then add a little bit of fresh, frozen pineapple (maybe 1/2 cup – 1 cup), a little papaya(probably about 1/2 cup) and some pieces of mango (approx. 1/2 cup). Then add orange juice to blend. It is one of our favorites! And I love that it doesn’t have any sugar (except for what’s in the OJ). I don’t know how it would work with US orange juice. Our OJ is not as acidy as the US’s. You can add more or less fruit to your liking.

The recipe aboves sounds delicious and I plan on trying it!
