Candace says, “If I’m cooking, it’s because I’m following a simple recipe from a magazine or book, or watched it on the Food Network or Cooking Channel and remembered a version of it. Val cooks most of the meals in our home, not me. I’m a lousy chef and even ruined the asparagus recipe that’s in my own book! LOL. But I’ll tell you, my husband doesn’t care how mediocre my food is because he’s just happy when he gets a night off from cooking!
Here’s a delicious recipe I got from one of my favorite fitness magazines, “Oxygen” called, “Quinoa Jambalaya.” Enjoy!
Here’s my version of the recipe. Looks really good!
And here it is plated and topped with green onion. It was delicious and a hit for the whole family!
If you are looking for more healthy recipes, pick up my book, Reshaping it All, where I feature one in each chapter along with plenty of motivation for physical and spiritual fitness.”
Thank you so much for bringing us into your home and family, Candace!

Candace Cameron Bure first became known to millions as a co-star on the hit ABC television series Full House. Today, like her brother Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains, Fireproof), she is the rare Hollywood actor who is outspoken about her Christian faith and how it helps overcome certain obstacles, like her struggle with food addiction.
Bure’s healthy lifestyle has been featured in US Weekly and People magazines as well as national talk shows including The View and NBC’s Today. In Reshaping It All, she continues the story, inspiring women to embrace a healthier lifestyle by moving faith to the forefront, making wise choices, and finding their worth in the eyes of God. Candace shares a candid account of her struggle with food and ultimately her healthy outlook on weight despite the toothpick-thin expectations of Hollywood.

I just love Candace! I’m so excited that she (and Kirk) are so open in their faith! What a blessing. I would LOVE to see some kettlebell exercises. There are so many out there from Jillian, to Bob, to the infomercial on tv at 3am. But in reading reviews, they’ve all been knocked as wrong form and easily self-injuring. I know they are GREAT total body work out, but I’m afraid to try them…but I want to try them. Just SAFELY!
Yes, I tried Jillian’s 30 day shred but had to stop because me knees hurt so bad I could hardly bend over. A friend of mine had the same trouble and had to stop using hers. So I went back to my power walk video and also started doing P90X ab ripper.
Love the way it looks plated and topped with the onions! Yum!!
I’m going to have to try this recipe. My hubby would love it!
As for something I’d like to see on this blog that would help me reshape it all . . . how about a post on how to exercise efficiently? How to maximize your time when working out (since time is always is short supply for busy moms!). That would be super helpful 🙂
I would love to win this book. What I would like to see is how to schedule a workout time between caring for two little kids (I have a baby and a toddler)!
oh this looks good!! i will have to add it to my next list of cooking needs :]. thanks again for all your encouragement through the blog. it is SUCH a blessing!
I’m reading her book now…not to say I wouldn’t like my own copy for the recipes and a refresher…but I just really need will power. I need to exercise that discipline muscle by saying no to sweets and snacks and chips little by little. one choice at a time.
This looks yummy. Going to have to try it, maybe this weekend 🙂 I would love to see a workout routine that targets abs/core muscles.
Love your site!
I would love to win a copy….I still need one…:) I enjoy visiting your blog. Thanks for the encouragment.
Love it! I need recipes, recipes, recipes that my family would eat. They are hard to please when it comes to eating healthy (they’d rather have pizza!)
I would love to win a copy of this book! What I would like to see on this blog are Ab and Core exercises using only the exercise ball. I have an issue with my tailbone so I cannot do ANY floor exercises for my abs; I need something that I can do while sitting/leaning on the exercise ball instead. I’ve been having trouble finding exercises like this so it’s been tough to workout my abs/core as much as I would like to(okay, as much as I NEED to) :0)
Thank you for this giveaway and a great blog!
Very exciting giveaway! I’d like to see more info on getting motivated and exercise I can do while involving my kids.
Thanks!
Can’t wait to try this recipe.
I would really like to see exercises that could be incorporated into my housecleaning routine and also my gardening. It would really help me to maximize my time and keep my 50+ self in better shape.
I love the look of this recipe – I’ve been hesitant to try quinoa, but this looks great! I’d also love to see kettlebell exercises that don’t require a new DVD to get a great workout in – I have too many already! And always, bring on the recipes!
would love to have cost efficient healthy recipes that feeds a family of 7. Also, exercise tips for someone who does not have a lot of time or $.
Thank you & God Bless,
Leslie
I just found your blog and I love it! I am on a “crazy” weight loss journey and I can’t wait to see what your site has to offer.
I love new recipes so I would have to say that that is what I would like to see on your blog. 🙂
Thanks for the great giveaway!
Jessica
I would like information on reshaping my life with God as my leader.
I would love to win this book. I too wound like to see easy, do at home exercises that can fit into a busy Mommy schedule of 2 toddlers and a soon to be 1st grader
I’d love to win this book! I’d love to see some quick exercises for those times when workout time is short. Maybe a 10-20 minute workout that hits all the major areas.
I’d love to win this giveaway… I would like to see more recipes on the site.
I would love to see an other challenge. I got so much out of the first one. Thanks for everything you do Clare. You are doing a great job.
I would LOVE to win this book & I would love a challenge again here on the blog! 🙂
Yes, but how do you get your kids to eat it? I have a very picky three year old boy that acts like I’m KILLING him to “make” him eat grapes, let alone vegetables! I tend to have to “hide” them. 🙁
That looks yummy! I would love to win the book. Time management when it comes to fitting in workouts is something I would like to see here.
I’m so excited to try this recipe! I would love to win Candace’s book simply because faith and food are a big part of my life, however I lead such a busy life it’s hard to keep it all grounded. I try to find recipes that are good for my husband and I, and I know her book will have some great ones, and I also love how she incorporated spiritual wellness in the book as well. I would love to read her ideas of how spiritual and health wellness can be maintained in a busy lifestyle like hers, and mine.
Loved this recipe! First time to your blog and I really like it- lots of good stuff. I would love to see recipes that are healthy and kid friendly. I have picky little eaters! 🙂 The hardest thing to get them to eat is meat and vegetables… Meat I am not as concerned about, but vegetables definitely more so…
I’ve just recently found out about Candace’s book and would LOVE the opportunity to read it!
I am finding that despite working out 2 days a week and maintaining basic food intake, working full-time, raising 2 girls, building my marriage and being involved with ministry all take priority timewise and I’m stuck figuring out how I can take it to the next level so I can feel good about my appearance and health the right way.
I”m excited to be inspired and guided by a fellow sister in Christ to see what works for her!
I am so excited to hear about this new book and I am going out today to buy it 🙂 I look forward to hopefully seeing more of Candace on here.
I’ve enjoyed the book and trying out the recipes that Candance shared with us. The recipe above looks so so good. As for me and what I would like to see more of, recipes and exercises to regain flexibility that’s been loss due to age or illness. Have a great day!
I love to cook and would love her new cookbook. I would like to see another challenge on your blog. Thanks
I would love to win the book. I would like to see more challenges like Candace’s, more motivation (especially linking spiritual/physical health), and a for beginner’s section. Thanks for everything. God bless.
I would love to win this book! I have really enjoyed this journey; and learned a lot! 🙂 Thanks!
Omg! just to win this book, would be a lifetime wish!! I hope so!! Love her !
As a wife and a mom of three, I’m always looking for healthy recipes to cook for my family. I would love to win this book and show of my cooking skills 🙂
I would love to see exercise tips, especially workouts that are high in impact and low on time spent. As a mom of 3 under 4, I don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to working out, but I NEED it! Thanks so much!!
I love how the book has everything. Spiritually, physically, etc. I love celebs being real about their faith and really living what they say.
I noticed Sarah’s question and thought I might mention this. In Candace’s book she says that her kids love so many different types of food because they have introduced so many into their diet. They always make the kids try it, and if they don’t like it then they introduce it again a few months later. Because kids tastebuds and likes change over time it’s a good idea to keep on introducing food over time.
I’d love to see ideas for fitting in exercise with a busy schedule and small kids
I love that the book has different topics and Candace is a great role model.
My partner does a majority of the cooking since I have a nerve disorder and when I cut things up for even a salad, my hands go numb. Not the best way to cook, eh? Well, with my nerve disorder, I find it equally difficult to exercise. Candace, could you think up a few recipes that require minimal chopping/dicing, all while incorporating some lower and core exercise while cooking?? I’m thinking lunges to the fridge… what do you think??
Would love to read that book! Would also love ideas on how to find the time to exercise when you have small children!
Made this a few weeks ago and forgot to post it! It was delicious!! Even hubby liked it! Definitely will be making again.
